Daniel Street - Newtown

Situated on an elevated site above Newtown's old P. Hutson's brickworks and within roaring distance of Wellington Zoo. We get creative with our retaining walls in a special suburb close to home for the Nice Pozi team.

With an inspiring existing garden you can't help but push the boundaries with design of the new landscape elements.
A key project for our team as we showcase who we are and what we can do.

Hats off to our good clients for committing to more than the average. We could have built a simple, linear and completely functional replacement to the existing failed retaining wall. But where's the fun in that? Taking advantage of our inhouse design capabilities we drew up a solution inspired by the flow from other aspects of the garden including the rolling topiary and quirky sculpturalism of the property. This drove us toward a gutsy curved artform of a wall that was executed in true Nice Pozi style.

he wall bends in a meandering horizontal curve that tightens toward the end, it waves down with curves on the vertical plane also leading to an epic ski jump finish. The wall constricts at the passage inviting you down to a prime spot where the space opens to a shapely lawn. Spiraled sleeper steps spin you down to the 100 plant lavender orchard below comprising three varieties contributing to an extended bloom period which will grow into a phenomenal scented garden.
