Karori -

Design & Build

A special one for the Pozi team! A full in house design and build for our good clients in Karori. Starting with an overgrown muddy bank. The vision was to provide an inviting passage to a great space for both children and adults to relax and enjoy in the company of friends and family. A key feature was a beautiful existing puriri tree that attracted large numbers of kereru and other native birds. Our works involved initial consultation and landscape design.

With our fabulous clients we have achieved a very high quality outcome that will evolve into a more and more personable landscape day by day.

Once the concept was agreed on we proceeded with de-vegetation and site clearance which enlarged the space dramatically. We then levelled the section with several timber retaining walls encapsulating a set of feature stairs that we inset with a decorative brick toe and concrete infill for the tread. The feature stair aspect promotes the sunniest and best views in the garden.

The brick theme was carried into several other parts of the garden including access pathways and decorative inset brickwork for a patterned top terrace surface and the bottom landing where it will join the stairs that are yet to be built as part of stage 2.
The orientation of the passages lead you to a historic pottery shed ruin which we framed with a stylised pergola over the top.

We installed a lush lawn at the base of the backyard and inset boulder steppers up through the garden to a discreet compost. The job was finished with an abundance of healthy native plants incorporating creepers and climbers to run both up and down selected timber and block structures. Also included in the planting was a large selection of flax, tussocks, ferns and several special requests.
