Churton Park

In the new suburbia popping up fast on the fringes of Wellington this one was a client’s design and a really good one at that. All derived from their own basic sketch!

We are very grateful to our good clients who patiently held out to see it all through.

The canvas we started with was a classic "left by the developer," which included imposing retaining walls, dead lawn and literally nothing else. The design incorporated for the lower level: Several hardwood decks, an XL outdoor couch, kit-set cabin, steel pergola and practical and complimentary garden/ veggie beds with a high end artificial turf linking the spaces together.
The upper level: linked with a cascading hardwood staircase that leads you up to a character garden that can be enjoyed from a well positioned spa.

What more do you need? Lights! Is the answer, so you can keep on enjoying the space in a completely different setting at night. We incorporated wash lighting on the staircase and around the spa to give an indirect and warm mood.
We used strip lighting under the L-shape couch to accentuate the clean lines of the cantilever seat and the bold greens of the turf. With the Covid-19 lockdown affecting the job at mid point, the team did exceptionally well to pull this one home upon return.
